A Rishikesh wedding is a riverside ceremony on the Ganges with the Himalayan foothills behind you. It often includes a private Ganga aarti for guests, the lamp ceremony at dusk. The best months are October–November and February–April. Much of the town is vegetarian and alcohol-free. For 150 guests over three days, expect roughly ₹39–85.9 lakh (about US$41,000–90,000).

## Key facts

- Best months: October, November and February to April
- Typical budget: ₹39–85.9 lakh (about US$41,000–90,000) for 150 guests, 3 nights, 4-star
- Airports: Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport (DED) — About 45 minutes to Rishikesh
- Areas: The Ganges, Shivpuri and the Himalayan foothills

Rishikesh sits where the Ganges leaves the Himalaya. It’s a river town known for yoga and its temples, and for the Ganga aarti at dusk, when lamps are floated on the water.

Resorts upstream of the town hold ceremonies on lawns above the river. It’s a calm, spiritual place to get married, and guests can stay on afterwards for yoga, rafting or walks in the hills.

## Questions

### How much does a destination wedding in Rishikesh cost?

For 150 guests over three days at a 4-star riverside resort, expect roughly ₹39–85.9 lakh (about US$41,000–90,000). Rishikesh is one of India’s better-value wedding destinations.

### Is alcohol allowed at weddings in Rishikesh?

Not in much of the town, which is vegetarian and alcohol-free. Some resorts outside the town limits serve alcohol under their own licences, and we check each venue’s policy before you book.

### What is the best time for a wedding in Rishikesh?

October to November and February to April. Avoid July and August, when the monsoon raises the river and hill roads can close.

### Can our guests attend the Ganga aarti?

Yes. They can join the public aarti at the ghats, the steps down to the river. We can also arrange a private aarti at the venue for your wedding party.
