We book and look after every performer, and the sound and lighting they need. That includes Kerala’s chenda melam drummers, nadaswaram players (a long double-reed pipe), string quartets, bands, DJs and folk dancers, and choreographers for the sangeet night. We like fusion line-ups best, such as a violin and a nadaswaram sharing a tune.

Music is usually the quickest way to get two families mixing. We put together a line-up that works for both sides. That might be a string quartet for the ceremony and chenda drummers for the arrival. Later on, you’ll want a DJ who knows what both families dance to.

For a sangeet night we bring in choreographers, who can teach guests from abroad a few steps in an afternoon.

## What’s included

- **Kerala traditions:** Chenda melam, panchavadyam (a five-instrument temple ensemble), nadaswaram with thavil drums, and dancers for oppana or thiruvathira, two Kerala group dances.
- **Bands and DJs:** Live bands, acoustic sets and DJs for any function.
- **Sangeet choreography:** A choreographer teaches your guests a group routine in one or two sessions.
- **Sound and light:** Everything the performers need, run by our crew.

## How it works

1. **Line-up.** We suggest performers for each function.
2. **Samples.** You watch and listen to each act before you book.
3. **Show.** On the day we keep the timings, run the sound and look after the artists.

## Questions

### What is chenda melam?

It’s a Kerala percussion group led by the chenda, a cylindrical drum, with cymbals and wind instruments. You’ll hear it at temple festivals and weddings. It makes for a loud, happy entrance.

### Can you mix Western and Indian music?

Yes, and lots of couples do. A string quartet can play alongside a nadaswaram, or chenda drummers can join the band for the finale.
